Dumb Friends League receives over 140 dogs rescued from breeder The Dumb Friends League received more than 140 dogs that were rescued from a breeder in Ordway, Colo., on Aug. 7. The dogs were relinquished by their owner to The Colorado Humane Society & SPCA, an affiliate agency of the Dumb Friends League, after failing a required inspection by the Department of Agriculture's Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act (PACFA). The Department of Agriculture called in the Colorado Humane Society to assist in the removal and transport of the dogs. Nearly 30 of the dogs have already been adopted and others will become available once they have been spayed or neutered and received any necessary care. Some of the dogs will need dental surgery or grooming before they will be ready for adoption. From foster homes, community service, Jr. Volunteers and more, Colorado Puppy Rescue offers a wide range of volunteer positions. All of these positions require application approval and all but one-day volunteers are required to attend an orientation. They do not allow walk-ins for volunteering. Toys offer mental and physical stimulation and enrichment.
